Fertility and parenting decisionsWomen’s Mental Health Associates works with individuals, couples, and families dealing with primary and secondary infertility as well as decisions about adoption.  Individual and couples consultation, therapy, groups, and workshops may focus on:

  • Treatment of depression/anxiety in women and men with fertility issues
  • Coping with primary and secondary infertility
  • Stress-reduction and mind/body techniques such as guided imagery, mindfulness, and hypnosis
  • Working with women and couples with one or more pregnancy loss in any trimester
  • Preparing for in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and other fertility procedures
  • Evaluations for use of third party donors (egg and sperm donor)
  • Decisions about proceeding with fertility treatment and/or adoption or remaining childless
  • Aiding individual women and couples with limited emotional support
  • Dealing with fertility issues in specific populations:
    • women and men with cancer
    • women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
    • women with chronic pelvic pain
    • women with POF (Premature Ovarian Failure)
    • women with epilepsy
    • women with advanced maternal age
    • women with eating disorders
  • Decisions about carrying multiples
  • Sexual functioning: low desire, pain, and other sexual problems during and after fertility treatment and pregnancy
